1. About Patroliate

Patroliate provides articles, videos and other content relating to preparedness, self-reliance, outdoor skills, food and water, physical training, safety and related subjects.

The website may also offer products through an online shop and allow registered users to participate in discussions.

2. Informational content

The content on Patroliate is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, security, survival, nutritional or other specialist advice.

Preparedness and outdoor activities may involve significant risks. Circumstances, laws, environments, equipment and individual abilities differ. You remain responsible for:

  • Assessing whether an activity is suitable and lawful

  • Following product instructions and safety guidance

  • Using appropriate protective equipment

  • Seeking qualified instruction where necessary

  • Complying with local laws and emergency-service directions

  • Avoiding unnecessary risks to yourself and others

We do not guarantee that any technique, recommendation or item will be appropriate or effective in every situation.

3. Accounts and authentication

Certain features, including commenting, may require an account. Authentication may be provided through Auth0 and third-party login providers such as Google.

You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless caused by circumstances for which we are legally responsible.

We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce these Terms, investigate abuse or comply with legal obligations.

4. Comments and community rules

When posting comments or other user content, you agree not to:

  • Threaten, harass, intimidate or discriminate against others

  • Publish unlawful, defamatory or deliberately misleading content

  • Encourage violence or illegal activity

  • Share another person’s private information

  • Post spam, advertising or repetitive promotional material

  • Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the website

  • Impersonate another person or organisation

  • Infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights

  • Provide dangerously incomplete or reckless instructions

  • Attempt to evade moderation or account restrictions

Comments may be automatically screened for spam or potentially harmful content. We may review, hide, remove or restrict content when reasonably necessary.

Publication of a comment does not mean that Patroliate endorses it. Users remain responsible for the content they submit.

5. Licence for user content

You retain ownership of content you submit.

By posting content publicly, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and technically process that content to operate, moderate and promote the relevant discussion.

This licence ends when the content is removed, except where continued retention is legally required, technically unavoidable in backups or necessary for legal claims.

You confirm that you have the necessary rights to submit the content.

6. Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, the website and its original content, design, branding, text, graphics, images and videos belong to Patroliate or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law.

You may view and share links to publicly available pages for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, sell, republish, scrape, modify or commercially exploit substantial parts of the website without prior written permission.

Third-party names, trademarks, videos and other materials remain the property of their respective owners.

7. Products and purchases

Products offered through the webshop may be subject to additional sales, delivery, return and warranty conditions shown during checkout or elsewhere on the website.

Product descriptions and images are presented as accurately as reasonably possible. Minor differences in colour, packaging or appearance may occur.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights under applicable law. In the event of a conflict, mandatory consumer law takes precedence.

8. Product placement and affiliate content

Articles and videos may contain product placements, sponsored content, affiliate links or references to products sold through the webshop.

Where required, commercial relationships will be identified. Recommendations remain general and do not guarantee that a product is suitable for every person, purpose or situation.

9. Third-party services and links

The website may use or link to third-party services, including Auth0, Google, Hyvor Talk, Shopify and YouTube.

We are not responsible for the availability, content or independent data practices of third-party services. Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the website available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We may change, suspend or discontinue content or functionality when reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security, legal compliance or further development.

11. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for intentional misconduct or other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, Patroliate is not liable for indirect or consequential loss resulting from:

  • Reliance on general informational content

  • Activities performed without appropriate knowledge or precautions

  • User-submitted content

  • Third-party services or external websites

  • Interruptions, errors or unauthorised access outside our reasonable control

You remain responsible for your own decisions, equipment, preparation and safety.

12. Indemnification by business users

If you use the website for professional or commercial purposes, you agree to compensate us for reasonable losses arising from your unlawful use of the website, infringement of third-party rights or material violation of these Terms.

This section does not apply to consumers where such an obligation would be prohibited or unfair under applicable law.

13. Privacy

Our processing of personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, available at:

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the website, our services or applicable law.

The current version will be published on this page. Material changes affecting registered users may also be communicated through the website or by email where appropriate.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Dutch law.

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you also retain any mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence.

Disputes will be submitted to the competent Dutch court unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.
